Derin Games editorial guide · Last updated: 4 September 2026

This guide examines slalom gates, ramp approaches, turn balance and carrying speed against the rival racer.

What is the Goal of the Game?

Alpine Ski 3D drops you onto an endless, procedurally generated mountain piste. Carve down the slope as fast as you dare, pass through the slalom gates, collect stars, launch off ramps for spin tricks — and stay ahead of the AI rival racing beside you. One crash into a tree or rock ends the run, so the further and faster you go, the higher your score.

How to Play?

Pick your rival's difficulty on the start screen, then press START. Steer with the Left/Right arrow keys or A and D — the longer you hold a turn the harder you carve, so short taps keep your speed while hard turns scrub it. Press Down or S to tuck and accelerate, and Space to jump. While airborne, hold a direction to spin: a full 360 pays out big bonus points, while a half spin lands you riding switch (backwards) — you won't fall, but you ride slower until you tuck to correct. On phones and tablets the on-screen buttons appear automatically.

Game Features

  • Choose your equipment: skis with poles, or a twin-tip snowboard
  • Endless procedurally generated alpine piste built with Three.js — a new mountain every run
  • Carving physics with speed scrubbing, tuck acceleration and off-piste penalties
  • Ramps and air tricks: 180s, 360s and multi-spins with a combo multiplier
  • Switch riding — land a half spin and ride backwards until you correct it
  • Slalom gates and collectable stars for bonus points
  • AI rival skier with three difficulty levels and a live distance gauge
  • Pause menu, mute toggle, touch controls and a global leaderboard

Tips and Strategies

  • Tuck on the straights. Speed feeds your distance score, and distance is the biggest single source of points.
  • Don't over-steer. Long held turns scrub a lot of speed — link short, early turns instead of one late panic carve.
  • Line up gates early. Passing through a gate pays a bonus and keeps your combo alive.
  • Only spin when you have height. A 360 needs a proper ramp launch; a rushed spin lands you switch and costs speed.
  • Fix switch riding immediately with the tuck button — riding backwards bleeds speed every second.
  • Watch the rival gauge. If it turns red you're behind, and finishing ahead is worth chasing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is Alpine Ski 3D free to play?

Yes, completely free! It runs directly in your browser on PC, tablet or phone with no downloads, no installation and no sign-up.

How do you control the skier?

Use the Left/Right arrow keys or A and D to carve, Space to jump and Down arrow or S to tuck for extra speed. On touch devices on-screen buttons appear automatically.

How do I perform tricks?

Launch off a ramp and hold Left or Right while in the air to spin. A full 360 scores big; a half spin lands you switch, which is slower until you fix it by tucking.

Who is the rival skier?

An AI opponent races down the same piste. You pick its difficulty (Easy, Normal, Hard) before the run, and the end screen shows how many metres ahead or behind you finished.

Is my score saved to a leaderboard?

Yes. Your best run is stored on your device and, with a nickname, your score is submitted to the global Derin Games leaderboard.
